Mountain lifts in Semmering-Hirschenkogel
Ski and toboggan day and night at the readily accessible Hirschenkogel, which regularly hosts the FIS World Cup.
Easily accessible from Vienna and Graz and well connected to public transport, the ski resort of Semmering is ideally suited for a day drip – and thanks to the floodlit night slopes, even after work. A reliable snowmaking machine ensures there is plenty of snow and the legendary panorama of the Semmering-Rax region is your constant skiing companion.
The comfortable gondola lift onto the Hirschenkogel and a modern 4-seater chairlift connect the 14 kilometres (approx. 8.7 miles) of snow-assured slopes of a range of difficulties – 6 slopes are floodlit and available for night-time skiing – Europe’s largest night skiing centre. Sporty skiers can carve up the World Cup run, where the women’s World Cup slalom and giant slalom take place every two years.
Climate-friendly arrival: With the free Zauberberg Shuttle, winter sports enthusiasts can travel comfortably to the top of the Semmering Pass at weekends, during the Christmas and semester holidays. Information and timetable can be found here.
The 3-kilometre-long toboggan run from the Liechtensteinhaus at the mountain station down to the pass summit - eastern Austria's longest toboggan run - promises special experiences. It is also equipped with floodlights and open until late at night.
- Attractive combination offers
- Easy online booking
The cross-country skiing offer is also impressive: the Semmering-Wechsel Panorama Trail lies at an altitude of over 1,000 metres and is therefore very snow-sure. Other cross-country trails around the pass round off the offer.
At the summit of the Hirschenkogel at 1,350 metres above sea level, the Liechtensteinhaus mountain restaurant offers refreshments for skiers and tobogganers. The excellent cuisine, the large sun terrace and the entertaining umbrella bar make for a successful stop. Ideal: a toboggan run after a rustic evening in the hut.
